Hi Rachel,

There is a chapel in Rome called the Contarelli Chapel which is within the church of San Luigi dei Francesi that has three great Caravaggio paintings -my favorite is the Calling of St. Mathew. The other two are The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew and the The Inspiration of Saint Matthew. I am enclosing more information with links to the chapel, church and paintings.

Picture of Calling of St. Mathew
In the collection of the The Contarelli Chapel, within the church of San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome along with two additional Caravaggios called The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew and The Inspiration of Saint Matthew.

San Luigi dei Francesi is a church in Rome, not far from Piazza Navona.

The church was designed by Giacomo della Porta and built by Domenico Fontana between 1518 and 1589: ...completed through the personal intervention of Catherine de' Medici, who donated to it some possessions in the area. It is the national French church of Rome and actually entitled to the Virgin Mary, to St. Dionigis Areopagitas and St. Louis IX, king of France. The French character is evident since the facade itself, which has several statues recalling national history: these include Charlemagne, St. Louis, St. Clothilde and St. Jeanne of Valois. The interior also has frescoes telling the stories of St. Louis (by Charles-Joseph Natoire), St. Dennis and Clovis.

The church's most famous item is however the cycle of paintings in the Contarelli Chapel, painted by the Baroque master Caravaggio in 1599-1600 about the life of St. Matthew. This include the three world-renowned canvases of The Calling of St Matthew, The Inspiration of Saint Matthew, The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew.

Dublin is a beautiful place. I liked the picture of the doors. Did you take a bunch of pics of doors and put them into one pic? It reminds me of the movie "Monsters Inc". I like the swans too. Funny how the babies are gray and not as pretty as the grown white ones, huh? I doubt I would have liked the beer. I usually stick to the lighter ones. I love you!
